2WIRE WIRELESS PROBLEMS - SOLVED
I have AT&T high speed Internet service which came with a 2WIRE modem.
I have experienced intermittent transmission issues with the wireless side of the modem.
The last problem happened 5 days ago and made me nearly pull my hair out.
My service was working fine as I have a desktop computer that is hardwired and for that I am thankful as it allowed me to research the problem online.
I jumped through all the hoops for 4 days which even included switching out the original modem for a different one all to no avail.
I have two laptops and neither would even recognize that either modem was transmitting even though the wireless light blinked green.
I could read that all of my neighbors were transmitting but nothing from my own.
It finally dawned on me that for some reason our computers were not reading the particular frequency my modems were transmitting at and that seemed bizarre but I went down that path anyway.
I remembered we had had a momentary electrical power interruption one evening and it was the next day we started having the wireless transmission problem.
Then I remembered that about 6 months ago I had started using a television remote transmitting device and when I first installed it I was getting interference on the default channel so I changed the units involved to a different channel.
Then later we started using our laptops wirelessly without problem.
So what happened?
Well the power interruption caused the television transmitter to change to the default channel that was totally blocking my signal from our wireless modem.
I switched the channel on the T.V. transmitters – problem fixed.
OMG
